Local Small Business Owner: “It’s Getting to a Point Where It’s Not Even Worth It”

“It’s getting to a point where it’s not even worth it,” said Mickey Brown as he shared his story with our office.  Mickey is the owner of Brown Transport Inc., a small, specialized trucking business located in Preble County, and his business is facing its largest annual increase for health insurance in nearly 20 years.

Mickey is not alone, and stories like his continue to flood into our office.

“We now have too much government involvement in everything, too many mandates, too many regulations, and an apparent push by the Obama administration… to push small businesses out of business,” Mickey said as he continued with his story.  “These people know nothing about business or money.”

Mickey has it right.  That’s why Congressman Boehner, a former small business owner, is leading the charge as House Republicans fight to stop government abuse and promote better solutions for our local job creators.  Boehner’s recent speech on the House floor comes on the heels of a report released quietly by the Obama administration’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, showing the disastrous impact of the president’s health care law on small business owners and their workers.

The only reason we even have this CMS report is because Congressman Boehner demanded it from the administration years ago.  You can expect to see more of that, as Boehner is going to continue fighting for solutions that will improve our economy, increase wages, and help Americans get a better job.

Brown Transport Inc. has 35 employees.  They’ve offered health insurance for most of their 40 years in business, but to comply with ObamaCare insurance changes they face an 84.9 percent to 127 percent increase in plan rates – which is going to force them to discontinue offering group health coverage.  This is the “new normal” under President Obama’s economy, and we are all tired of it.
